Moving away from your home temporarily, how to receive your mail, and packages.  Sometimes, people move to a new city for a fresh start, or a job promotion, and in the process of moving  a couple by the name of Bob Harris, and Sue Doe, have decided to buy a house that needs a lot of tender, love, and repair.  They find a contractor, and sign an agreement for their house at 6345 Woodycreek Lane to be finished, and ready to be moved back into in a 6 month time frame.  Sue decides to fill out a temporary forwarding order through the United States Postal Service, and within one week she starts to receive mail, and packages from 6345 Woodycreek Lane, and Bob Harris, meanwhile hasn’t received any mail, or packages from their house that needs a lot of repairs at the moment.  How can Mr. Harris start receiving his mail at the same address that Sue Doe submitted a temporary forwarding order?  The first thing that, Mr. Harris should do is go to the local post office, and ask for a temporary forwarding order, once the temporary forwarding order is completed, Mr. Harris should anticipate that he should start receiving mail, and packages one week after submitting the temporary forwarding order.  When filling out the temporary forwarding order it’s important to put down the correct dates that the project will be completed, and you’ll be able to receive your mail, and packages on time, without any delays.  What should you do if you’re not receiving any mail at your temporary address?  Go to your home that is being repaired, and check to see if the mailbox is full of mail, or if there are any packages on the ground.  Normally packages left on the ground, can trigger porch pirates that a house might be vacant, and will give them the opportunity to attempt to come back to steal even more, so staying on top of your mail, and packages is very important.  What can you do to prevent mail from being left at your residence that your temporarily away from?  Take the mailbox down, and put it away in a safe place until the contractor has finished the work.  If you have time, go to the local post office, and speak to the letter carrier to let them know that you actually submitted a temporary forwarding order for Doe, and Harris, and then more than likely the letter carrier will flag the address to let other letter carrier’s know that 6345 Woodycreek Lane has a temporary forwarding order for 6 months.  If Doe, and Harris order packages online, they need to go online, and fix their address credentials to ensure that their packages will be re-routed to their temporary address for a 6 month time frame.  Moving away from your home temporarily, how to receive your mail, and packages.  www.iwantmymail.com  More than just a blog!

The importance of the maiden name when dealing with mail, and packages.  In the day, and age that we live in now, everything to go along with the new world of COVID-19, couples are continuing to live together, get married, separate, and divorce, no matter where this might be occurring in the world, it’s still happening.  Sue Doe, recently divorced her husband Bob Doe, and has decided to move from Seattle, Washington, along with their two children, Jack, and Chrystal, who are 10, and 9 years old, while relocating to Houston, Texas she meets a co-worker at her new job, and after one month of dating they decide to get married, so Sue decides to take on her partners last name of Blue.  After living in a 2 bedroom duplex for more than two years, Cindy, and her wife, Sue have decided to buy a new 3 bedroom home in Katy, Texas, so Cindy Blue turns in a change of address for entire family to forward their mail to their new home effective in 3 days.  Who will receive their mail once the family moves to their new home in Katy, Texas?  Cindy Blue, and anyone with the last name of Blue will receive mail at the new address, but Sue, who was formerly wearing the name of Doe along with her two children will have problems receiving their mail, because there wasn’t a family order submitted in the name of Doe, which needs to be done within 10 days of vacating their duplex, because after 10 days, the USPS will return all of their mail to the sender.  There also needs to be another change of address submitted in an individual order in the name of Hubbard, which is Sue’s maiden name, which she uses to order packages from Amazon, Target, Wal-Mart, and other vendors as well.  Sue receives drop shipments on a weekly basis, so she needs to go online, and update all of her new address credentials to shippers, and merchants, because if she doesn’t do this then her drop shipments will continue to go to her old address in Houston, Texas, instead of her new home in Katy, Texas.  Moving takes planning, and staying up to date on your address can affect not only you, but your children as well.  The importance of the maiden name when dealing with mail, and packages.  www.iwantmymail.com  More than just a blog!

Staying up to date with your business, and google maps,  is extremely important when you decide to move your business to a new location.  The question that is sometimes asked when a business decides to move is why did they decide to move?  There could be several factors such as, the former landlord sold the business, and now the new owners want double the price that the previous owner was charging the tenant, so the law firm of Ham & Bacon decide that they don’t agree with the new price so they decide to look for a new location, and they find a new office building for half the price that they would have been paying at their old location, so they decide to put in a change of address with the Postal Service, and two weeks later they move to their new location.  The law firm of Ham & Bacon owns several different businesses under the umbrella of their  law firm so the letter carrier advises them to submit a change of address for all of their other businesses that they own, because if they don’t submit a change of address then all of their mail will be returned to the sender, and in the process they could miss out on checks from clients, court appearances from the various courts that they represent clients at, licenses for their various restaurants that they own, and manage, and etc., so filling out a change of address will aid in making the moving process smoother for the law firm of Ham & Bacon.  Ten months after they move from  their old  law firm location a client shows up at the old law firm, that now belongs to a luxury builder by the name of Qstruction, and the client walks in wanting to find out about a court date, when the receptionist informs her that the law firm has moved over 10 months ago.  The client frustrated said that the law firm is still showing up on Google Maps at the address of 29210 Green Tomato Blvd., which is now the address of the luxury home builder.  How can this problem be fixed?  The law firm needs to contact Google Maps to inform them that they have moved their law firm to a new location, and update their business credentials, because if they don’t more customers will show up at the old location to try to take care of previous business that they had paid in full to be represented by the law firm of Ham & Bacon.  An accurate phone number also needs to be added to Google Maps as well, so in the event that a customer shows up at the wrong location, they will have a number that they can call that will aid, and assist them in finding the business owner’s new location.  Staying up to date with your business, and google maps can make a difference.  www.iwantmymail.com  More than just a blog!

The power of a phone number on a package.  This might not seem like it means a lot, but it really can make a difference in connecting a customer with an order of pictures that they ordered from a recent family reunion last weekend in Austin, Texas.  The family ordered the prints through Shutterfly, and one of the features of Shutterfly allows the user to put their phone number for entry on the package, and in the case of the Smith family their phone number was entered, but they forgot to update their address, and so the system automatically assumed that they still lived at 2325 Honeydew Drive in Lexington, Kentucky, when the family had actually moved across town, but were in the same city, but just a different zip code.  The letter carrier knew that the family had moved over 2 years ago, so they went the extra mile to call the phone number that was on the Shutterfly package, and Mrs. Smith answered the phone, and the Letter Carrier informed her that they were in possession of prints that she had ordered off of Shutterfly, and instead of returning the package to Shutterfly the Letter Carrier took the initiative to call, and one hour later Mrs. Smith met the Letter Carrier out on the route to pickup her prints from Shutterfly.  Upon meeting Mrs. Smith, the Letter Carrier informed the customer to go onto the Shutterfly website to update her address details so that her future orders from Shutterfly would go to her new address instead of the former address that her family had been gone from for over 2 years.  If the regular Letter Carrier had been on vacation then the package more than likely would have been returned to Shutterfly, but the phone number on the package actually  made a difference, it connected the package to the customer with the Letter Carrier  going the extra mile to make the call.  The power of a phone number on a package.  www.iwantmymail.com  More than just a blog!

Adding a suite number to your home to open up your business. While the current pandemic seems to have no ending date in sight many people, as well as businesses have decided to operate, and allow their employees to work from home. Some people have cut down on the overhead of working out of an office suite, when they can cut out the middle-man, and work from home to eliminate the cost of overhead. Your home address that you currently live in is 2747 Firewood Ave., and for business purposes you decide to add suite 4545, because this was your former office suite number in the Sweetwater Towers that you moved your office from after the pandemic started. Soon you add the suite number to all of your business banking statements, and you order packages as well as groceries from Amazon with the same suite 4545 added onto to your home address, and after working from home for two years, an investor contacts you with an offer on your home that you, decide that you can’t refuse, so you decide to relocate from Trinity, Alabama to Lakeland, Florida, and you submit a change of address for 2747 Firewood Ave., but you leave out the suite 4545 for your home based business. Soon after making the move you realize that you’re not receiving your business mail, or none of your credit card statements. Why is this happening to you? The first step that you need to take is contacting your credit card merchants, and notify them that you have moved, and update all of your credit cards, and if you have drop shipments that come on a weekly basis, you need to go online to that particular page to update, and change your address, or items that you order on a weekly basis will be left at your old address on Firewood Ave., because UPS, FedEx, Amazon, might be unaware that you moved over three months ago, so the responsibility of fixing this address issue lays upon you, and one of the first steps before you actually move is removing the suite number from your home address, because the Postal Service will recognize the physical address, but adding a suite number to your home could cause issues that might affect you receiving mail, and packages once you decide to move. Why numbers should always matter at your address. The answer is quite simple, just like an internet protocol address, your address where you live should always matter, it helps to identify where you live, so covering up numbers to hide where you live, can cost you dearly when you order food to be delivered late at night when you don’t want to cook, and the delivery driver from Uber Eats is walking from sidewalk to sidewalk trying to find out which duplex is the one that you actually live in, the owner has removed all of the numbers off of the property, and the numbers that were once painted on the curve have faded, so out of frustration the driver leaves your $25 order of Chinese food at the front door of the duplex that should be labeled as 2777 Blackberry Dr. #A, when the order of Chinese food, should have actually been delivered in the back at 2777 Blackberry Dr. #C, so after calling to complain about the order not being received the customer has another order delivered one hour later that the company is redelivering as a courtesy, but when the driver pulls up for delivery this time, the resident has to meet the driver outside to receive the delivery of the food. Numbers should always matter at your address in the event that there is an emergency, and medical staff have been sent out to provide CPR to a customer who has difficulty breathing, so having an ambulance drive past your address could actually cost someone their life because in an emergency every second counts, so reflective numbers on your curb to identify your address could make a difference between 1 minute, and 5 minutes. Some residents decide to give their home an extreme home makeover, and they change the color of their home, and remove the numbers from their home, and never put them back on to the house, just think about why your package, or medication could be misdelivered, if your neighbor doesn’t have numbers on their house as well, delivery drivers will take a chance and leave the package at the house that they think is possibly yours by looking at the house across the street, but numbers don’t always match up like one would think that they should. Paint your curb, put reflective numbers on your house, or have a sign in your yard to help identify your house, this can save the owner the heartache of dealing with a misdelivered package, or food that you ordered for dinner tonight, that was left next door at your neighbors house. Bad weather, packages, and mail. These things seem to go hand in hand, if there’s bad weather, depending on where your package is coming from your package, or mail could be delayed. Why is this important? Well you order an item, and the item is shipped through the Postal Service, but flights have been delayed in New York, where your item has been shipped from, chances are you will not receive the item in the two day shipping period that you paid extra for when you purchased the item that your waiting for to arrive at your home. The tracking information says that the package is scheduled to be delivered on time? Chances are the website hasn’t been updated since your package was ordered, and employees haven’t been to work since there was a severe ice storm that has shut down the plant where employees work. My bills will be late if the plant is shut down, will I be billed a late charge? Most credit card companies will normally give you a grace period, especially if weather is a factor, and you have a good history of paying your bills on time. Online payments work just as well as sending in a bill if you feel that you might be late, and you don’t want it to affect your credit score especially if your trying to buy a new home, or a new automobile. What should I do if I haven’t received my stimulus check? The last time that you received your payment, was it deposited to your bank account, or did you receive a check in the mail? If you have moved since you received your last stimulus check, it’s imperative that you submit a change of address through the Postal Service, because if you have moved over 10 days ago, your check could be returned to the sender. Bad weather, packages, and mail go hand in hand, if your waiting for a package, and you haven’t received it check the weather of the sender, this could be the answer to why you haven’t received your package, or your mail. If flights are canceled at airports, your mail, and packages could be delayed as well. www.iwantmymail.com More than just a blog!

The parcel locker key, the key to retrieving your packages. Living in luxury apartments has changed over the years, now luxury apartments have their very own fitness centers, swimming pools, they’re equipped with jacuzzi’s, and business center’s and conceirge’s, who might handle your laundry while your away on a business trip, but one thing that will almost always be in apartments are parcel locker boxes, where the letter carrier will put your packages in the event that they will not fit into your mailbox. What is a parcel locker key? It’s a key that identifies where your package is located in a box inside of your mailroom. So if your mailbox contains a key with the number P9 located on it, all that you simply have to do is go to the parcel locker box that has the number P9 on it, and insert the key, which will stay in the box, and turn the key, and the box is open for you to retrieve your package. What if I receive an alert for package left in a parcel locker? All you simply have to do is open up your mailbox, and retrieve your mail, and the parcel locker key should be inside of your box for you to retrieve your package. What if there are two parcel locker keys in my box? Chances are that you have two packages that were left on separate days, or only one package can fit in the first parcel locker, that’s why you have two keys inside of your mailbox, or you didn’t check your box when the first parcel locker key was left in your box. I have received a package that doesn’t belong to me, the former resident has moved, what do I do? Take the package to the front office, and they will give the package to the Letter Carrier marked with no longer here. Things that can help this from happening, put your name inside of your mailbox, and if you have a spouse have them to also put their maiden name inside of the mailbox as well, just incase something might come in your spouses maiden name. Check your mail often, and don’t let weeks go by without checking, because there could be a parcel locker key in your box, the key to retrieving your packages. www.iwantmymail.com More than just a blog!

Having your address on your curb can make a difference with the delivery of food, and packages. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, more people around the world have started to order food, and packages online, so that they can skip the exposure of going to a mall to shop, or going out to a packed restaurant to have lunch, or dinner, instead they’re ordering food online, and having it delivered from companies such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, or even ordering groceries online from Amazon Fresh, and other local vendors, who are providing customers with the option of ordering online, and having items that you ordered online delivered to your front door. It’s late at night, and you’re waiting for your food, and you check online to see where your order is, and the status has changed to delivered, but the problem is that you don’t have numbers on your house to identify it, nor do you have your address painted on the curb to identify where you live, so the driver leaves the food at your next door neighbors house because lights are on, but they happen to be out of town. How do you fix this problem? First you should have numbers on your house that are visible to the delivery driver, so that they can identify your house, and if it’s late at night, it’s important to leave on a porch light so that this will also aid them in being able to find your address, because houses look different at night than they do during the day, and for safety purposes, a driver walking up to a house looking for a house number could make them look suspicious, and their safety as well as yours should always be a top priority. The USPS which delivers to your neighborhood six days a week would probably be more comfortable making a delivery to your house at night, versus someone who just started delivering food one day ago for DoorDash. The days of seeing a delivery person in uniform have changed, more companies are contracting out drivers to deliver packages, and groceries, and food to your house, or apartment, condo, and etc., the personally owned vehicle unmarked has started to deliver to neighborhoods more often than normal, but when they do drivers normally wear a vest to identify what company that they’re working for such as Amazon contractors wear Amazon vest, and vice versa. Using barriers to hide packages. If a house has a barrier such as a flower pot, bushes, a brick wall that closes off a porch, or anything else that can shield a package from being seen from the street, it’s in the best interest of the customer that the delivery merchant hide the package behind one of these barriers so that a porch pirate can’t see the item from the street. Why is this important? Well if an item can be seen from the street it has a better chance of being stolen versus one that is hidden behind a pillar, or a set of giant bushes that may shield off your porch. Sometimes a customer will have a sign on their porch that might read, “hide all packages behind columns!” If a customer has a sign with instructions it’s best to honor the customers wishes in regards to hiding a package so that it can’t be seen from the street. If the customer has a smart doorbell, and it doesn’t have tape, or a sign that says don’t ring the doorbell, because children are sleeping, then ring the doorbell so that an alert will be sent to their smartphone to alert them that a package has been delivered to their address. What can the customer do to help the delivery driver? If the doorbell is rang, try to get to your door as soon as possible, because ignoring your doorbell can lead to theft if you allow your packages to sit outside while you’re watching your favorite lifetime movie, or football game on your television. If your porch doesn’t have columns, or anything to protect your packages from being seen from the street, invest in a smart doorbell, or put up landscaping such as bushes where a package can be shielded from the street, but remember if your package can’t be hidden from the street then it can become subject to bad weather that could potentially damage items inside of your package that you have ordered, or that a relative might have sent to you as a birthday gift, or something that you might have won in an auction on Ebay.
