Special instructions with your packages can be the difference between a safe package, and a stolen package. What exactly does this mean? Well, sometimes leaving a visible note so that the delivery merchant can see can make the difference between your package getting stolen, or delivered, and not being visible from the street, in the delivery world if a thief can’t see the package, then more than likely they will not waste their time walking up to a house where they can’t see a package, unless they happen to be walking in the neighborhood when they see the FedEx, UPS, Amazon, DHL, or UPS vehicle pulling up to the sidewalk to deliver your items that you ordered, on Cyber Monday, or Black Friday. As a delivery merchant reading a note can go a long way with establishing trust between a delivery merchant, and the customer. If a customer happens to be out of town, or shopping, and they receive a notification that a package has been delivered, then they will feel more comfortable knowing that the delivery merchant left their package hidden in their bushes out of site from visibility from the street from individuals such as porch pirates, who are extremely busy during this time of the year attempting to steal packages off of your porch during the holiday season. There are factors that have to happen in order for delivery drivers to follow the instructions that you leave in plain sight for them to see such as, the employee, everyone is different so your regular UPS, FedEx, Amazon, DHL, USPS, employee might be off the day that your item is to be delivered so the replacement employee might not value what is visible on your porch, but they should so don’t be surprised, or disappointed if your package is sometimes left out in the open, the company that they work for might simply say as long as the item was delivered to the right address is all that we care about. Having a barrier, such as a patio with a door makes it so much easier to shield your packages from thieves especially if the door is open for access to delivery personnel, but if the door is locked then the driver will leave the item on the side of the steps, or wherever they feel is safe, sometimes leaving packages in bushes can get wet, or damaged if there is rain in the forecast, or other harsh weather conditions.
