Tax season, and the W-2 form.

Tax season, and the W-2 form. This is an exciting time of the year for a lot of people, tax season, and waiting for the W-2 form to be delivered to our mailbox, P.O. Box, UPS store, Mailboxes Etc., or military base, or ship that you might be stationed around the world. The important question that needs to be addressed is have you moved during the time that you have been employed during the year? If you have moved, did you fill out a change of address properly? Did you get married during the year, and if you did, does your employer know that you have changed your name to your spouse’s name? Do you own, a home based business, and if you do, did you properly list your address to the I.R.S., for tax purposes, because they’re going to send your refund check to the address that you listed on the form when you first set up your L.L.C., when you decided to work for yourself. Some people would rather receive the paper check from the I.R.S., instead of the electronic deposit into their account, so it’s important to make sure that you list your address appropriately in the event that you might move during the calendar year. If you move three times within one year it’s your responsibility to notify your employer of any changes regarding your address, because if you don’t communicate with your employer, or any employer that you worked for during the year, then they will send your W-2 form to the last address that you notified them where you resided at. If you live at an apartment, condo, or townhouse, or any facility where an apartment number is required, you have to have this on your W-2 form to properly identify where you live, for example if you live at 29000 Sweetwater Dr. #250 Muskegon, Michigan 49440, you can’t leave out your apartment number, because if you don’t have your name inside of your mailbox, then more than likely that W-2 form that you have worked for all year, and waited on for tax season could be returned to the sender. What you write down as your address to your employer could have an effect on you receiving your W-2 form, be accurate of your address, because any discrepancies could delay you on receiving your refund.
